India Today Group launches new fantasy sports website Aaj Tak 11

One of India’s biggest print and electronic media networks in the country, the India Today Group, announced (watch video below from Sports Tak) that it had launched a fantasy sports portal ‘Aaj Tak 11’ at the Salaam Cricket 2019 summit held at the Lord’s Cricket ground in London yesterday.

The fantasy cricket portal was launched by former Australian cricketer Shane Warne, former Indian cricket captain Sunil Gavaskar and Chairman and Editor-in-Chief of the India Today Group, Aroon Purie.

According to the website, the portal currently offers only free-to-play fantasy cricket games that allows users to win real money cash prizes. It has however been indicated, that real money contests will also be offered by the platform in the near future.

The Aaj Tak 11 platform is provided by the Corporate Fantasy League, a fantasy sports solutions provider operated by Delhi-based Experience Global Mobile Technologies Private Limited.

India Today is the second major media conglomerate to start their own fantasy sports product. A few months ago, Times Internet Limited, a subsidiary of the Times of India Group had also started a free-to-play fantasy sports and prediction portal, CricPlay, which is endorsed by former Indian cricketer and East Delhi Lok Sabha Member of Parliament (MP), Gautam Gambhir.

Dream11 partners with seven IPL franchisees, onboards seven more cricketers as brand ambassadors

Leading fantasy gaming company Dream11 has announced that it has signed up seven cricket stars and partnered with seven of the eight Indian Premier League (IPL) franchisees as part of its multi-channel marketing campaign.

The seven IPL teams associated with Dream11 are Mumbai Indians, Chennai Super Kings, Kolkata Knight Riders, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Delhi Capitals, Rajasthan Royals and Kings XI Punjab.

The company also stated that it has signed up popular cricketers Jasprit Bumrah, Rishabh Pant, Dinesh Karthik, AB de Villiers, Rashid Khan, Ajinkya Rahane and Ravichandran Ashwin to endorse their product. Apart from these cricketers, former Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni already endorses the fantasy gaming company.

Commenting on the announcement, Vikrant Mudaliar, Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) of Dream11 noted, “This IPL season, we have come out with a holistic approach to our marketing campaign that comprises of brand advertising films along with product led content on several platforms. The newly signed cricket stars along with our deals with the IPL franchise teams means that we are bringing alive the IPL experience in a unique way for Dream11 fans.”

The team logos and player images will make appearances in the Dream11 product and also be featured in product-based advertising on TV and digital platforms.

Dream11 recently announced that it had inked a deal with BCCI to be the official fantasy gaming partner of IPL for four years.

Apart from IPL, Dream11 also has also officially tied up with  the International Cricket Council (ICC), National Basketball Association (NBA), Big Bash League (BBL), Pro Kabaddi League (PKL), and International Hockey Federation (FIH).

Other fantasy sports platforms have also joined the bandwagon to signup prominent cricketers as celebrity endorsers. Recently, Halaplay signed up all rounders Hardik and Krunal Pandya as their brand ambassadors, while Fanmojo managed to onboard opening batsman Prithvi Shaw and Fantain signed up Suresh Raina.

Times Group-backed Cricplay also stated that former India batsman and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Gautam Gambhir has agreed to endorse their free to play fantasy platform and prediction game.
