Dream11 inks 5-year exclusive partnership with ICC
Dream11, India’s biggest fantasy sports website has signed an exclusive 5-year partnership with the International Cricket Council (ICC), cricket’s apex governing body.
As per an email sent out by Dream11 to its users, the company has started promoting ICC Women’s T20 World Cup fantasy games as the official partner of ICC.
It is understood that as part of the deal, the company will develop and operate fantasy games relating to all ICC events in the next five years, including Champions Trophy and the 50-over and 20-over editions of the cricket world cup as well as test matches.
The deal will make Dream11 the cricket governing body’s ‘official fantasy game partner’ till 2023, allowing cricket fans to select their fantasy teams for all official ICC global events. Dream11 will also be integrated across all branding and marketing collateral of ICC events.
Commenting on the partnership, Harsh Jain, CEO of Dream11 told the Economic Times, “The ICC Dream11 partnership will provide the best, most trusted fantasy cricket experience to billions of fans globally.”
Confirming the development, David Richardson said, “The ICC is delighted to welcome Dream11 on board to deliver a fantasy cricket platform for cricket’s one billion plus fans across all ICC events. Giving fans the opportunity to enjoy our sport in more ways, by playing fantasy cricket throughout the tournament or for individual games, is important to us.”
Recently, Dream11 closed a US$100 million Series D funding round that was led by Chinese technology and gaming giant Tencent.
Dream11 has been a sponsor of the recent India West Indies series and the Asia Cup and its television commercials presenting the company’s brand ambassador and former India cricket captain, Mahendra Singh Dhoni have been a constant feature on broadcaster Star Sports, during match hours.
